Ukulele Orchestra of North Curry

Friday 14th June, 2:30-4:30 pm at Pavilion (Greenway Playing Fields)

We are kicking off our Music Festival with an ‘open rehearsal’ from the Ukulele Orchestra of North Curry.
This is a free invitation to all to come along and enjoy some melodious and foot-stomping entertainment.

The Ukulele Orchestra of North Curry started life around 10 years ago as a small group of people wanting to learn to play some songs on the ukulele, inspired by the visit of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (yes hem!) to North Curry Village Hall)

Their current playing repertoire is around 90 songs mostly from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s – one or two even older! – and with a few more “modern” . They aim simply to have fun playing and singing together.

The Ukulele Orchestra regularly plays for Care Home residents and staff; the lunch club; the Village Harvest Supper, various village summer fayres as well as putting on twice yearly performances at the Village Hall. Last year also saw two gigs at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, with more being planned.

The Orchestra rehearses on Friday afternoons in the Pavilion at Greenway Playing Fields. During the North Curry Music Festival, they will be throwing open their doors for an extended rehearsal

Come along and have a listen, maybe sing along, perhaps bring a uke and join in…….stay for just a song or two, or until the end if you fancy!
